Ovince Saint Preux demolishes Shogun Rua in less than one minute

It only took 34 seconds for Ovince Saint Preux to notch the biggest win of his career over Shogun Rua. The American baited the Brazilian into charging forward and caught him with a left hook as sneaky as it was brutal. Add some ground and pound and it was all over.

There’s only one year’s difference between Shogun Rua and Ovince Saint Preux and yet in terms of MMA miles, Shogun came into this bout as a dinged-up classic on its third engine and OSP entered as a low-mileage steal with a long future ahead.

Both men were coming into the fight off losses but OSP’s loss was a decision to Ryan Bader and it was his first loss following a five-fight win streak. Shogun’s brutal KO loss to Dan Henderson was his fifth loss in his last eight fights.

However Shogun, the Brazilian legend, entered as a massive local favorite fighting some American guy as far as the fans in Uberlandia were concerned. Half a minute later and OSP had defeated the local crowd as completely as he beat Shogun.
