New York middleweight Wayne Barrett faces his first-ever Dutch opponent on this Friday’s GLORY 18: RETURN TO GLORY card.

It is a significant milestone in his career. The Netherlands is kickboxing’s traditional heartland and has produced some of the sport’s most elite competitors.

Speaking to BloodyElbow.com, Barrett gives his thoughts on facing Jason Wilnis plus what drives him to compete and succeed.

He also talks about the learning curve he has experienced in dealing with the media as an outspoken fighter and how he draws some comparisons with himself and fellow New York native Jon ‘Bones’ Jones.

Barrett feels some affinity to Jones because the UFC light-heavyweight champion has also taken some flak in the past for having forceful opinions and strongly expressing his self-belief.

GLORY 18 takes place this Friday, November 7 in Oklahoma City, USA and airs live on SPIKE TV from 9pmET.
