Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira can’t forget his feud with Frank Mir, who already beat “Minotauro” two times. However, the possibility of ending his career having at least one victory over his rival is a big motivator for Big Nog. He asked for a third shot at Mir before his retirement in an interview for Globo.
“I’m ‘choking’ about his last win. I want to fight against him again, for sure, face him and impose my pace. I want this bout for 2015, this is my plan.”
In response, Mir says that he’s fine about this bout but feels that it must be rewarding for him.
“I’ll give him this opportunity but I have to make sure that I’ll have something to gain, since I won two fights and he won none of them. As long as there is something for me to take out of this situation, I would like to fight him again. No problem.”
For Nogueira, a win should be reward enough for Mir.
“What would he have to gain is a win in his career. He needs it. He won’t be fight against a ‘nobody’. It would be interesting for me and for him. I won’t give him a easy fight. If he wants to test his skills, I’ll give him a tough task.”
Mir is in a four-fight losing streak and fought for the last time on February, when he was defeated by Alistair Overeem at UFC 169 by unanimous decision. After losing his second fight against Mir, “Minotauro” won one time and lost his last two bouts, being KO’d by Roy Nelson in his last appearance on April, at UFC Fight Night: Nogueira vs. Nelson.
