Asked to offer his thoughts on the state of the heavyweight division and the recent happenings in the 265lb. roster, Brendan Schaub opened up on his scheduled opponent Travis Browne switching camps from Jackson’s MMA to coach Taverdyan’s camp.
While Schaub was open to the idea of switching camps to better one’s game and bring about further development, he is quite certain that this particular transition will only serve to help him instead of Browne.
“It can be good,” Schaub stated on the JRE podcast. “Listen, I came to [Los Angeles] and switched things up. Obviously, I know Ronda very well and I know that camp pretty well. I’m not going to go into detail but I think it’s a great thing for me that he’s training there. I’ll put it like that. I think it’s a good thing for me.”
Rogan did not take that response lightly and questioned whether Schaub was exaggerating the facts or simply making a generalized statement because he is slotted to fight Browne. Schaub, however, was adamant that he was “100 percent dead serious.”
While Schaub refused to go into detail on why he was so certain that the move would not be a success, the heavyweight mentioned that even though he found Browne’s camp switch interesting, he is unlikely to give it much though from here on out.
“I don’t give a f**k. I’m not worried about him. I’m worried about me.”
Schaub and Browne are scheduled to collide at UFC 181, which takes place Dec. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
