First up this weekend, at Friday’s World Fighting Championships out of Louisiana, UFC veteran Kyle Bradley made a successful return to action after a submission loss in June. The victory came over Chris McDaniel (18-17-0) via head kick knockout. Bradley went 1-3 in the UFC, with a surprise TKO win over Phillipe Nover punctuating losses to Chris Lytle, Joe Lauzon, and Rafael dos Anjos, and he was also featured in the video game UFC Undisputed 2009. With the win this weekend, he moves to 5-3 since his 2010 release back into the regionals, and his overall record improves to 19-10-0.
And on Saturday, at the delightful-sounding Sugar Creek Showdown, MMA iron man Jeremy Horn took to the cage to earn the 63rd submission win of his professional career, this one a first-round kimura of Brian Imes (8-9-0). Horn’s MMA career stretches back to 1996, and he made his Octagon debut in 1998 in the main event of UFC 17, where he lost to Frank Shamrock by kneebar. Throughout his globe-trekking career–which also includes a 2-0 run in PRIDE–Horn would make intermittent appearances in the UFC, ultimately going 6-7 with the organization, with a 2009 unanimous decision loss to Rousimar Palhares marking his last appearance in the Octagon. His win this weekend moves his overall career to 91-21-5.
Meanwhile, out of Wales, in the Cage Warriors 72 co-main event, Che Mills (16-8-2NC, 2-1-1NC UFC) suffered his third (T)KO loss in little more than a year, this one coming at the hands of Jack Marshman (16-5-0) early in Round 2. Mills’s last appearance in the UFC came in 2013, in the form of a three-round drubbing at the hands of Matt Riddle. The loss was later reversed to a no-contest when Riddle tested positive for marijuana but, despite technically not losing the fight, Mills was released. He’s 1-3 since then.
In the main event of CCCW 24, one-time WEC champion and formerly number-one ranked bantamweight Chase Beebe (25-13-1, 2-2 WEC, 0-3 Dream, 2-2 Bellator) dropped his fifth fight in a row, falling to the strikes of Vince Eazelle (9-1-0) in the second round. Beebe has run hot and cold since his fall from the bantamweight rankings, with five and six-fight win streaks broken up by slumps just as long. His last victory was over former TUF contestant Chris Tickle in 2012.
Finally, at WFC 11, David Mitchell (15-4-0) took another confident step on the comeback trail in the form of a first-round guillotine of Matt Major (6-4-0). Mitchell, who has never lost outside of the UFC, was released last October following a 1-4 run with the organization. He’s 3-0 since then.
