Bellator 123: Curran vs. Pitbull II fight card
Bloody Elbow 2.0 | Anton Tabuena
Bellator kicks off a new season, their final “weekly event” schedule before new President Scott Coker implements his system next year, with a highly anticipated rematch between featherweight champion Pat Curran against Patricio Pitbull in the main event. Curran won their first meeting by split decision, and recently recaptured the featherweight crown with a stunning late submission win over Daniel Straus. The co-main event in Uncasville, Connecticut pits Cheick Kongo against Lavar Johnson in a battle of ex-UFC heavyweights. “King Mo” makes his return with a bout against short-notice replacement Dustin Jacoby, who won in Titan FC on August 22nd. Bobby Lashley makes his Bellator debut versus Josh Burns to round out the main card.
For fans who are worried about having to choose between Curran vs. Pitbull 2 and UFC Fight Night: Jacare vs. Mousasi down the road in Ledyard, fear not! The Bellator 123 main card airs at 8 PM ET and should wrap up around 10 PM ET, while the UFC card won’t be completed until approximately midnight. You get the best of both worlds on what should be a good night of MMA.
