The UFC has finally found an opponent for two-time flyweight title challenger Joseph Benavidez. In an announcement made yesterday by UFC officials, Benavidez’s next fight will be in Austin, Texas, as he takes on Dustin Ortiz.

In case you were wondering about the November 22nd date, originally the UFC was headed for a debut in Turkey, but it appears those plans have been scrapped and replaced with a US-based card in the Lone Star State.

Benavidez (20-4) rebounded from a shock KO loss to Demetrious Johnson by choking out Tim Elliott so badly that Elliott was literally forced to tap with his feet. He’s finished 4 of his 5 victories at 125 lbs and has held steady as one of the sport’s best non-champions.

Ortiz (14-3) is 3-1 in the UFC, and this bout with Benavidez would be his 4th of 2014. His previous 3 ended in wins over Justin Scoggins and Ray Borg and a loss to John Moraga, all of which ended in split decisions.

UFC Fight Night Austin is expected to air live on Fox Sports 1.
