‘Matured’, Charles Oliveira makes no future plans in the UFC and would accept a Metamoris invite

Owner of six submission wins inside the octagon, the still young Charles Oliveira hopes to get one more victory in 2014 – after submitting Andy Ogle and Hatsu Hioki -, against Nik Lentz, at UFC Fight Night: Mousasi vs. Souza, on September 5. Claiming to Bloody Elbow to be now a more mature fighter and focusing in giving one more step forward at Featherweight division, the 24-year-old Brazilian would be also interested in a Metamoris match, like MMA fighters such as Josh Barnett,

“I would surely accept an invite to compete at Metamoris. If there is no conflict with UFC, I would accept to fight there. In the UFC we have excellent grapplers. Ronaldo “Jacare” and Thiago Tavares from Brazil, for example, Jim Miller from America. If I have the green light from the UFC, for sure that I would fight.”

However, the main goal of Charles “Do Bronx” is to solidify his name in his division but without the hurry from the past.

I always want to be well placed. I want to be one of the best fighters, face the best competitors. The division have great fighters, I don’t think that I’m far away from the best men. But my focus now is to beat Lentz. After that, I will seat with my team and see what to do. I had the objective of winning three fights this year, I’ve already won two. I’m more mature now. Before, after winning two, I wanted to fight again soon without much thinking. Everything happens in the right time and, when my time to fight for the belt comes, I will fight.

In a match for the Lightweight division, Oliveira submitted Lentz on June of 2011, but the bout was ruled a No Contest by Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission because of a illegal knee landed by Oliveira right before the finish. Now fighting as 145-pounders, Lentz is the 8th in his UFC official divisional ranking, while “Do Bronx” is the 14th.
