GLORY’s ‘LAST MAN STANDING’ event took place June 21 in Los Angeles, California. Featuring an eight-man tournament and had three world titles on the line, it aired live on pay-per-view.
This Friday night Spike TV will air the card in its entirety for the benefit of fans who didn’t get to see the pay-per-view, or just any fans who want to watch the fights again.
Notable bouts on the card include California’s Joe Schilling facing Canadian nemesis Simon Marcus in a rip-roaring clash which is certain to be a Fight of the Year 2014 nominee when this year comes to a close.
Another bout likely to find itself on that list is the welterweight title clash between Belgium’s defending champion Marc de Bonte and the surging ‘Bazooka’ Joe Valtellini of Toronto, Canada. How neither one was knocked out in that fight is a mystery to me.
Other notables on the card include Melvin Manhoef taking part in the eight-man middleweight tournament and friends-turned-rivals Rico Verhoeven and Daniel Ghita facing off the for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship.
GLORY has yet to announce its next event, though sources close to the company indicate that an early October date in the US is likely to be announced in the near future. In the meantime, this Friday’s replay of the LAST MAN STANDING card will have to keep us going.
