The UFC has been to Brazil three times this year, but they’ve got four more events lined up before the year is over. Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting has confirmed the remaining Brazil schedule for 2014, which does not include the rumored stadium show in Curitiba:

  • UFC Fight Night 51: Bigfoot vs. Arlovski on September 13th in Brasilia.
  • UFC 179 on October 25th in Rio de Janeiro.
  • UFC Fight Night on November 8th in Uberlandia.
  • UFC Fight Night on December 20th in Barueri.
The last three times the UFC has gone to Brazil for a PPV they’ve tried using Jose Aldo as the headliner, with Aldo fighting Chad Mendes at UFC 142, Chan Sung Jung at UFC 163, and an attempt to main event vs. Erik Koch (later Frankie Edgar) before he pulled out with an injury. It’s quite possible that if Aldo is healthy enough to fight in October that they reschedule the Chad Mendes rematch to this event.
In 2013, the UFC went to Brazil an identical 7 times, 3 times in 2012, and once in 2011. Previously, the promotion had a 13 year gap from 1998 to 2011 where they didn’t hold a Brazil card at all, but now they’re there on a much more frequent basis.
