Conor McGregor’s star power is hard to deny, particularly following Saturday night’s UFC event in Dublin, Ireland, where he was drowned in a sea of screaming fans and adoring countrymen.
The Irishman made such a dramatic impact during the event that even UFC President Dana White was quick to compare the surging featherweight to women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.
“I’d like him to relax,” White stated at the post-fight media scrum. “I like that he’s ambitious. He just needs to relax a little bit. I love the things he says. I’m telling you, he reminds me of Ronda Rousey. Him and his visions remind me of Ronda Rousey.”
The comparison began when the promotion’s head honcho was asked whether he was interested in seeing McGregor become a two-division champion in the UFC. White was immediately reminded about Rousey’s similarly ambitious requests and saw the comparison as an obvious one.
“Ronda Rousey has a million visions too. She had a vision of her and I meeting and bringing women into the UFC. It is crazy when she talks about things she had visions of and then I listen to him talk now and it is hilarious.”
