UFC president Dana White made it clear two months ago that women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey would badly hurt undefeated boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a (presumably MMA) fight. It’s a hypothetical match-up that seemingly is only discussed in MMA circles — because the MMA world likes talking about silly things — but if you ask Mayweather himself, he doesn’t know a thing about her.
When asked by USA Today’s Bob Velin about Ronda Rousey’s chances against him in a fight, Mayweather replied “I don’t know who he is.” followed by a woman in the background explaining to him that Rousey is a “female UFC fighter”. Even after being told that Rousey is not a male, Mayweather still made it clear that he doesn’t know who Rousey is. You can see the whole video in the above clip.
The 37-year-old Mayweather is set to rematch Marcos Maidana on September 13th for Floyd’s WBA, Ring Magazine, and WBC welterweight (147 lbs) belts. Mayweather edged out Maidana earlier this year by majority decision to extend his record to 46-0 as a pro boxer.
