Conor McGregor blasts Chad Mendes: ‘He’s an idiot to think that Aldo is running away’

Conor McGregor doesn’t share Chad Mendes’s feelings that Jose Aldo ran away from the title bout initially scheduled for August 2, at UFC 176 – the card that isn’t going to happen anymore. The fight was cancelled because of a injury that the UFC featherweight champion suffered several weeks ago, which seems reasonable to the Irish fighter. According to his interview with Tatame.com.br, McGregor thinks that Aldo simply doesn’t want the rematch against Mendes.

“I don’t believe that Aldo is running away, he defeated this guy before. Chad is an idiot to think that. But, to be honest, I don’t care about what happen between them. Their time is coming to an end and my time is beginning.”

McGregor isn’t impressed with either Aldo or Mendes’ performances to date.

“Nothing of what they do impresses me. They don’t move like I move, don’t fight like I fight. At long last, I’m not impressed. The UFC says that I’m the number 13 in the ranking, but it’s from a typing mistake, I’m the number 1.”

After starting his run in the UFC with two impressive wins against Marcus Brimage and Max Holloway, McGregor will face Diego Brandao at UFC Fight Night: McGregor vs. Brandao, on this Saturday, in his hometown of Dublin, Ireland.

The UFC still plans to have Aldo and Mendes face each other in 2014. The 145-pound champion KO’d the challenger in the first round of their first meeting on January of 2012, at UFC 142.
