Saturday July 12, Bloody Elbow presents live fight coverage of Canelo Alvarez vs. Erislandy Lara. The Showtime Boxing Canelo vs. Lara PPV airs live on Showtime PPV this Saturday, July 12. The show has a fight time of 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT. Bloody Elbow will have live fight coverage, including results and discussion.

Tonight should be a good one for boxing fans. Canelo Alvarez always brings a level of excitement and that big fight feel every time he steps into the ring, and Erislandy Lara has done a great job on his end building the fight. Though Canelo remains the favorite, a Lara win is not at all unfathomable. That sense of anything being possible, combined with some heated emotion from both men, should make for an electric event tonight, and we have you covered for all the action.

Join us here at Bloody Elbow for Canelo vs. Lara results, discussion, and live fight coverage tonight, Saturday, July 12.

For round by round coverage tonight, I’ll be joined in scoring the fight by fellow Bloody Elbow writer Brent Brookhouse. Get scores after every round right here.

Round 1: As expected, Lara opens up using his movement and speed to outbox Canelo. Lara worked from the outside and evaded most of Canelo’s hooks, landing his own shots in return. Fraser: 10-9 Lara; Brent 10-9 Lara

Round 2: Increased aggression from Canelo this round as he closes the distance and begins landing. Lara continues to use nice movement and land more shots, but Canelo has begun to find a home for his left to the body. Fraser: 10-9 Lara; Brent 10-9 Lara

Round 3: Very nice defensive round from Lara as he plays the matador to Canelo’s bull. Lots of evasion and slips from Lara, who lands a few stiff shots of his own while neutralizing Canelo’s offense. Fraser 10-9 Lara (30-27 through 3); Brent 10-9 Lara (30-27)

Round 4: Canelo comes out hard for the 4th, attacking Lara with heavy shots and finally connecting with some consistency. A lot of nice body work here from Canelo that landed, as Lara had fewer moments of his own offense as well. Fraser: 10-9 Canelo; Brent 10-9 Canelo

Round 5: The pattern of this fight continues – Lara’s evasion vs. Canelo’s body work. Lara landed a heavy shot early, but Canelo’s body work was better again this time and seemed to impact Lara at a few moments. Fraser: 10-9 Canelo; Brent 10-9 Canelo

Round 6: Lara continues to move, but his offensive output is not what it was in the first rounds. Meanwhile, Canelo lands more to the body, including a nice late flurry. Fraser: 10-9 Canelo (57-57 through 6); Brent: 10-9 Lara (58-56 Lara)

Round 7: Very close round. Lara looked good early, but Canelo took more control later. Lara is cut over the right eye. Fraser: 10-9 Canelo; Brent 10-9 Canelo

Round 8: Canelo starting to trap Lara a bit, whose movement is noticeably slowing. Canelo also brought the jab out this round, mixing it in with his body shots nicely. These are all close rounds, but I keep seeing Canelo landing more effectively. Fraser: 10-9 Canelo; Brent: 10-9 Canelo

Round 9: Canelo keeps up his offense, but Lara manages to find some clean shots to the head again here. Lara slips late in the round, which looks bad, but is not a scoring moment. As is the trend here, another close round. Fraser: 10-9 Lara (86-85 Canelo through 9); Brent 10-9 Canelo (86-85 Canelo)

Round 10: Canelo mixing up body and head but not landing with the same consistency as when he was more focused on the body. He’s aggressive, but missing, while Lara has found his accuracy again. I have this even heading into the final 2 rounds. Fraser 10-9 Lara; Brent 10-9 Lara

Round 11: This looked like the earliest rounds, with Canelo not working the body much and Lara successfully staying away and landing just enough offense to earn the advantage. Fraser: 10-9 Lara; Brent: 10-9 Lara

Round 12: Canelo comes out swinging looking to take this, but Lara deals with the early attack. After that rush, Canelo slows down considerably, allowing Lara to land more shots down the stretch. Fraser: 10-9 Lara (115-113 Lara); Brent: 10-9 Canelo (116-116 draw)
