One of the most exciting contests on the UFC on FOX 12 fight card will no longer be taking place, as Michael Johnson withdrew from his feature fight against Josh Thomson with an undisclosed injury.

MMAJunkie.com was the first to report the news.

The UFC is still looking for a potential opponent for Thomson, who is coming off a controversial decision loss to former champion Benson Henderson. He is now 1-1 in the UFC but 2-3 in his last five contests. His two most recent decision losses were both narrow split decisions.

The compelling lightweight clash was slotted for the main card portion of the event, which is headlined by a welterweight battle between Matt Brown and Robbie Lawler.

UFC on FOX 12 takes place July 26 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.

UPDATE: Damon Martin broke the news via Twitter that Bobby Green has stepped in to face Josh Thomson at UFC on Fox 12. No report yet as to who will fill in for Green against Abel Trujillo on the Fight Night: Bader vs. Saint Preux card.
