For the 2nd time in 2 years, the UFC has been forced to scrap a PPV card.

UFC 176 in Los Angeles, CA was due to be headlined by featherweight champion Jose Aldo against Chad Mendes, but Aldo was forced to withdraw last week after suffering injuries to his shoulder and cervical spine. With the card just a month away, the UFC either had to scramble to find an emergency new main event or erase it from the calendar. In an official statement released by the UFC, they’ve chosen the latter. UFC 176 is now off:

The featherweight championship fight between Aldo and Mendes is expected to take place later this year and all other fights previously slated for UFC 176 are being rescheduled for upcoming cards. The August 30th Pay-Per-View event will remain titled UFC®177: DILLASHAW vs. BARAO II at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif. Tickets for UFC 177 go on-sale Friday, July 18th.

As the STAPLES Center event will no longer take place, ticket refunds will be offered at the original point of purchase. If tickets were purchased from AXS via www.axs.com or Purchase By Phone, refunds will be received automatically via AXS. Tickets purchased from the STAPLES Center box office can be refunded there, beginning Wednesday, July 9th. Those who purchased tickets at any other outlet should reach out to that original point of purchase and contact them directly for a refund.

As you may recall, UFC 151: Jones vs. Henderson was the only other PPV in the promotion’s history to be called off. Not too dissimilar from this event, the lack of real notable “star power” on the rest of the main card basically meant that any potential main event cancellation ran the risk of derailing the PPV, and that’s what happened here.

According to Yahoo’s Kevin Iole, Aldo-Mendes 2 is being targeted for Brazil, which likely means the planned October 25th PPV in Rio de Janeiro.

Here’s a full list of fights that were scheduled for UFC 176 but will now be moved elsewhere:

Ronaldo Souza vs. Gegard Mousasi
Gray Maynard vs. Fabrício Camoes
Bethe Correia vs. Shayna Baszler
Jussier Formiga vs. Zach Makovsky
James Vick vs. Walmir Lazaro
Lorenz Larkin vs. Derek Brunson
Bobby Green vs. Abel Trujillo
Tony Ferguson vs. Danny Castillo
Beneil Dariush vs. Tony Martin
Alex Garcia vs. Matt Dwyer
