WSOF 10: Branch secures Middleweight title with first round submission over Jesse Taylor

On Saturday night, the World Series of Fighting headed to the Hard Rock Cafe & Casino for WSOF 10: Branch vs. Taylor. Branch has put up a three fight win streak since entering WSOF. Taylor is probably best known for kicking out a limo window in TUF 8, but is now on a seven-fight streak having won his WSOF debut in his last fight.

Early in the first round, Taylor caught Branch in a guillotine choke. Branch was able to survive the threatening submission and eventually move forward. Taylor attempted to roll out as Branch advanced but ended up defending a front choke. Branch locked on a D’arce choke that forced the stoppage.

Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Rick Glenn

Karakhanyan took over the fight early, However, Glenn was able to escape a very tight armbar attempt and rode out the end of the first round in top position. Throughout the second round, Glenn dominated Karakhanyan, Karakhanyan’s corner refused to send him out for the third round and Glenn by doctor’s stoppage

Jessica Aguilar vs. Emi Fujino

It took her the full five round, but Aguilar was able to clinch the unanimous decision over Fujino.

Luiz Firmino vs. Tyson Griffin – At one time, Griffin was a potential contender. Those days are clearly long gone. Aside from brief moments, Firmino controlled the fight en route to a decision win.

Lance Palmer vs. Nick LoBosco

Palmer took control in the first with a back mount. He used strikes from the top to open up a submission opportunity before locking in the fight-ending rear naked choke.

Dave Huckaba vs. Derrick Mehmen – Mehmen scores unanimous decision over Huckaba

Timur Valiev vs. Adam Acquaviva – Valiev TKO’s Acquaviva at 1:35 of round 3

Angel DeAnda vs. Krasimir Mladenov – Mladenov scores unanimous decision over DeAnda

Ashlee Evans-Smith vs. Marciea Allen – Evans Smith TKO’s Allen at 3:01 of round 3.

Justin Jaynes vs. Jimmy Spicuzza – Spicuzza scores unanimous decision over Jaynes

A.J. Williams vs. Tanner Cowan – Williams TKO’s Cowan at 0:44 of round 1
