Bellator has had an interesting day, with the sudden announcement rumors of Bjorn Rebney being jettisoned from the promotion came to fruition.
The next step in the organizational changes has been completed as Spike TV sent out a press release announcing that former Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker had taken over. Not only has Coker taken over, but Spike TV president Kevin Kay made it clear that there is a larger direction shift coming as well, with an “evolution” away from tournaments.
“We are excited to have Scott Coker lead us in a new direction as we evolve the league format from a tournament-based organization to a more traditional model with big fights,” said Kay.
The promotion will be holding a media conference call at 6 p.m. ET.
Bloody Elbow will be on the call and will bring you any updates of importance.
It will be quite interesting to see what the new Bellator looks like in the coming months.
