Urijah Faber has long been the face of Team Alpha Male. After eight straight title fight wins in the WEC, Faber is winless in his last six trips to the cage with the title on the line.
He recently got to watch teammate T.J. Dillashaw dominate Renan Barao (who Faber failed to defeat twice). That led to questions of if Faber would be interested in a fight with Dillashaw. On UFC Tonight, Faber answered the question, “I don’t want to. Would you want to fight him? It’s a fight I wouldn’t want to do. It’d have to be a special circumstance.”
Following Dillashaw’s win, Team Alpha Male jokingly posted a photo with Renan Barao’s name included on a list of attendees for an upcoming seminar. That led to Jose Aldo firing shots back at TAM, saying that they would hopefully get payback in his fight with Chad Mendes and in a potential Barao/Dillashaw rematch.
Faber also addressed that situation on UFC Tonight, “We’ve got two camps that are two of the best in the world. I’ve got nothing but respect for those guys. It’s a real rivalry now. I’ve lost to Aldo and I’ve lost to Barao. Now we’ve got a belt and they have a belt.”
Finally, Faber discussed his upcoming fight with Alex Caceres, “He’s a big guy and on a five-fight win streak. I’ve got my hands full. I’m taking this guy very seriously and I’m training like it’s a world championship fight.”
