
Fedor Emelianenko is only 37 years old but he’s clearly from another era of mixed martial arts. The Russian legend racked up a lot of accomplishments in his 12-year, 39 fight career that saw him put together the most fabled unbeaten streak in the history of the sport. Fedor fought in Russia, Japan, and the United States, participating in some of the most-seen cards in the young sport’s history on two continents.
But he’s not so comfortable with at least one aspect of where the sport he helped build is heading. That is to say, Fedor ain’t down with women’s MMA.
“I respect the girls who defend the country’s honor at the Olympics, in wrestling, boxing… But I do not support female MMA. A woman must be a domestic goddess, raise her children and be feminine. There a lot of different sports which help her in that. But MMA is not one of them,” he told a Russian TV interviewer (translation via MMA.tv).
