Vitor Belfort continues to make outlandish statements to the media.

The former UFC light-heavyweight champion was subjected to a random drug test administered by the Nevada State Athletic Commission several weeks before the commission took the decision to ban Testosterone Replacement Therapy. The decision to ban TRT led to a domino effect that ultimately saw Belfort removed from his title fight against Chris Weidman in favour of fellow former champ Lyoto Machida.

The NSAC never revealed the results because the Brazilian was tested before submitting an application for licensure in the State of Nevada. He had recently revealed that he had taken his own tests and even announced that he was ready to take back his slot in the UFC 175 main event.

Now Belfort is once again making MMA headlines, this time claiming that he is training like an “animal” without TRT, but believes his opponents will have an advantage against him since his hormone range is below average.

“I feel like an animal,” Belfort told MMAFighting.com. “The Holy Spirit gives me everything I need. I’m training like an animal. Nobody trains harder than me. “My hormone stays at 200 today, and the normal range is from 300 to 800. (TRT) raised my levels to a normal range according to the commission. My hormone was at the same level of my opponents’, so they are in advantage now.”

Clearly feeling victimized by the current TRT situation, Belfort questioned why the substance was allowed in other sports and not MMA.

“After TRT was banned, Dan Henderson fought Shogun (Rua) with TRT,” Belfort continued. “That’s funny because a Brazilian can’t use TRT there (in the United States), but an American can fight here. If TRT exists in many others sports, why can’t it exist in MMA? If gives you no advantage, it only puts you at the same level of the other athletes.

“People say ‘oh, so you should retire.’ Yeah, you want me to retire so you won’t get knocked out. I won’t retire. I will be back and I will win.”
