Vitor Belfort may not have the title shot at middleweight division when he comes back to fight in the Octagon. Dana White told some members of the press that he isn’t sure when “The Phenom” is going to compete again and prefers to wait until give any confirmation about the situation of the UFC veteran.
I haven’t talked to Vitor since everything happened. I don’t know if his fight for the title will happen this year. I haven’t heard anything from him. He has to solve a lot of things before. He has to solve his problems, not us. If he is still the number 1 contender? I don’t know, we will see what happens.
Lyoto Machida replaced Belfort as the title challenger after the TRT ban by the NSAC and the UFC. Because of the need of minor surgeries in the both knees of the champion Chris Weidman, the fight was delayed from UFC 173 – which will happen on May 23 – to UFC 175, on July 5.
