White responds to Jones’ apparent Instagram slurs: ‘He got hacked’
Bloody Elbow 2.0 | Anton Tabuena

Late Tuesday, a number of homophobic posts from Jon Jones’ Instagram account were made, targeting a Swedish MMA fan. Bloody Elbow, was quick to reach out to Jones and his manager about the posts and public statements were released soon afterward that the light heavyweight champ had lost his phone and his Instagram account had been hacked as a result.

Both the initial action and the more public reaction from Jones received a lot of skepticism from media and the public. Many were quick to doubt that Jones would take to his Instagram to publicly disparage someone and were quick to give credit to his management’s story. Others saw this as another representation of Jones’ somewhat duplicitous public persona, making public platitudes to mask poor behavior. Neither side had any real teeth to their argument. But, after speaking to the fighter, Dana White has come down firmly in support of the story that Jon Jones was hacked. He spoke to MMA Junkie.

“He got hacked,” White told MMAjunkie. “Originally when I found out he was being hacked, I was like, ‘What, are we all going to say stupid stuff and then say we got hacked?’ But if you look at his timeline, first of all he rarely posts anything or responds with comments on Instagram – and he got hacked.”

“[The hackers] got in there and they changed his password,” White said. “Like 11 people had his password that surround him and we got that squashed and taken care of yesterday.”

It doesn’t offer a whole lot of closure to those doubting Jones’ conduct, but it’s not utterly unreasonable either, especially if the hacker in this case happened to be a member of his entourage or other acquaintance. I’m not saying I’d automatically believe that, but I could see it being true. Either way, it appears that the story is set as far as the UFC is concerned and unless something new comes to light I’d assume the official stance will be “case closed.”
