This weekend is turning out to be a pretty busy day for fight fans. There’s Glory 15 Istanbul, plus K-1 running kickboxing shows on Saturday (check back for K-1 details), not to mention Pacquiao vs. Bradley and the UFC. Now you can add a third big kickboxing event to the schedule.
Saturday, April 12, Bloody Elbow will have fight coverage of SuperKombat World Grand Prix. This is the first Grand Prix event in SuperKombat’s 2014 season and is taking place in Resita, Romania. SuperKombat is one of Europe’s top kickboxing organizations – a company that has turned out very exciting shows over the years with an emphasis on action-centric fighters. This Saturday’s event kicks off the season with a solid card.
In the main event, Brice Guidon faces Raul Catinas. Guidon is a Glory and K-1 veteran with a lot of high level experience, while Catinas is a powerful bulldog of a fighter who makes all his fights interesting. Should be a very good fight there. Also featured on the card are SuperKombat mainstays Catalin Morosanu and Sebastian Ciobanu. Finally, the card features a one night 4 man Light Heavyweight tournament featuring 4 up and coming fighters. Put it all together and you have a good, exciting set of fights from one of Europe’s top kickboxing companies.
The SuperKombat Grand Prix can be seen on TV on EuroSport, and on Romanian sports channel Sport.ro. The show airs at 1:30 p.m. ET (8:30 p.m. EEST for local time in Romania).
