Anthony Pettis feels he is a better striker than Gilbert Melendez

The UFC 155-pound champion Anthony Pettis analysed his upcoming fight with Gilbert Melendez to Tatame.com. The bout is booked for the last UFC card of the year which will probably be UFC 182. “Showtime” is confident that he has the advantage in the stand up game against “El Niño” in their match for the UFC lightweight title.

He is a good opponent but he won’t fight against me like he did against Diego Sanchez. I’m going for the knockout or the submission. I won my last three fights in the first round and I’m coming to win. Melendez has what it needs to be at the top of division, he is there for a reason. He did a good fight against Ben Henderson and beat Diego but I feel that my striking is better than his. I have kicks, punches, reach in my favour and my striking is better. I have to avoid the takedowns and be sure that I will fight my fight.

Pettis and Melendez will be the coaches of The Ultimate Fighter 20 which will feature women in the Strawweight class (115lbs).
