Last spring, news came out that then king of the UFC welterweight division Georges St-Pierre had signed on for a villainous role in the upcoming Marvel sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier. With filming completed and the film expected to release on April 4, the first preview of St-Pierre as Batroc the Leaper can be seen in the video above. In the scene, Batroc fights Captain America in hand-to-hand combat and taunting the hero, “I thought you were more than a shield.”
GSP last appeared in the Octagon at UFC 167 where he scored his ninth consecutive title defense in November. Shortly after the somewhat controversial decision over Johny Hendricks, St-Pierre announced that he’d be abandoning his title and enjoying a hiatus from the cage. Since then, he’s been an outspoken proponent of increased drug testing throughout the sport of MMA and in the UFC specifically. While he hasn’t ruled out a return to the Octagon, GSP has not given a timeline for his return, either.
