Dennis Siver has been issued a temporary suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission following last month’s news that he has failed his UFC 168 post-fight drug test.
The test failure was for Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). The typical usage in a PED capacity is to use hCG when cycling off of synthetic forms of testosterone as it kicks natural testosterone production up.
The NSAC will likely deal with Siver at May’s commission hearing, at which time it would be shocking if he received anything other than a fine, a 9 month suspension and the result of the bout overturned to a no contest.
Siver blamed a new trainer for the test failure in a statement issued in March:
…prior to UFC 168 I had to hire an external personal trainer and nutritionist to support me with making weight. The nutritionist recommended me a new diet method from the US, which had been successfully used by the stars.
Thereupon I asked, if I, as a competitive professional athlete, could safely use this supplement. This was confirmed to me. Then I committed the fatal mistake of not making sure through the UFC if individual substances from the supplement could have effects on the drug tests.
