Flyweight Will Campuzano returned to the Octagon on the Fight Pass prelims for UFC 171 against Justin Scoggins.
Scoggins comes out quick and hit an early takedown directly to back control. Campuzano was eventually able to scramble to his feet but ate a few punches on his way out of the clinch. Scoggins continued his onslaught landing punches and kicks from range. Another takedown from Scoggins. Campuzano returned to his feet, but again took damage in the process. Scoggins hit a third takedown with about a minute left and Campuzano was able to get up once again before the bell.
Scoggins looked to land kicks from the outside early in the second round before hitting a takedown a minute in. He quickly moved into side control. Campuzano tried to scramble out, but was only able to regain guard. Scoggins passed into half, but had trouble finding room to strike. Back on the feet with seconds left and Scoggins landed a couple punches before the final bell.
Scoggins opened the final round with a quick takedown that briefly led to mount. As Campuzano tried to create distance, Scoggins unleashed a combination of ground strikes. More punches from Scoggins from back control. He stayed on top for the remainder of the fight, picking and choosing his openings to land strikes. A dominant performance for Scoggins to pick up his second UFC win by decision.
