Saturday March 8, Bloody Elbow presents fight coverage of Glory 14 Zagreb. Glory 14 airs on Spike TV, Saturday night at 9:00 p.m. ET. Because of the time change from Croatia, the Spike TV broadcast will air on tape delay.
In the main event at Glory 14, two absolute legends of the sport meet as Mirko Cro Cop takes on Remy Bonjasky. What is already a big, emotional fight for kickboxing fans was given a little more resonance this week when Bonjasky announced that this would be the final fight of his great career.
Saturday’s Glory 14 main event is the second meeting between these two men. Here then, we revisit the first fight between Saturday’s opponents. This first fight is from June 14, 2002. At the time, Bonjasky was still developing as a fighter. He had arrived in K-1 just a year prior, but had already scored a win over the ultra tough veteran Ray Sefo. Cro Cop meanwhile was winding down his K-1 run and splitting his time between K-1 and Pride. Cro Cop came into this fight on a high note, having just defeated reigning Grand Prix champion Mark Hunt in his previous fight.
