The news that Nevada had decided to ban Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) in combat sports was a massive shift in the landscape of the fight game. It has already been pointed out that the UFC will follow the NSAC’s lead and now allow for TRT usage in locations without a commission where the UFC operates as a de facto commission.
Many were quick to point out that Brazil could still be a safe haven for TRT poster-boy Vitor Belfort as the Comissão Atlética Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA) operates as the commission for events in that country. But the CABMMA will follow Nevada’s lead.
Márcio Tannure stated in an article on Globo, “We have been discussing this here in CABMMA for quite some time and, since we have NSAC as a model, we also made the decision to not anymore give the exemption for TRT here in Brazil for no athlete.”
Dan Henderson will be the last fighter given an exemption for TRT as it was already granted for his rematch with Mauricio Rua.
