Last night on the main card of UFC 170, welterweight Rory MacDonald picked up a unanimous decision win over grappling ace Demian Maia. Maia took the first round with an early takedown that led winning the frame. After his opponent gassed out, Rory took the final two rounds on two judges’ scorecards.
At the post-fight press conference, MacDonald revealed that he’d suffered an injury to his hand earlier in the week. While attempting to remove the pit of an avocado, Rory managed to stab himself in the hand. On Sunday he posted some photos of the aftermath on Twitter:

This was MacDonald’s first win since giving up a closely fought split decision to contender Robbie Lawler at UFC 167. It’s unlikely this win will set him up as the next challenger to the welterweight title, but it gets him moving in the right direction. Also, knives are sharp, kids. Be safe.
