Hopefully the very solid number of viewers that tuned into UFC Fight Night 36 stayed for the final three fights, because that’s where most of the action was, and that’s the portion of the card that Dallas Winston and I got together to break down. As usual the conversation strays from MMA at a few points, but for the most part this installment of my podcast Heavy Hands is short, sweet, and to the point. And that point is, “Machida is awesome.”
Dallas and I discuss the striking limitations of Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, and the defensive liabilities that allowed Carmont to piece him up a bit in the second round of their important middleweight bout. And of course the second half of the episode is reserved for an in-depth breakdown of the night’s main event, Lyoto Machida vs. Gegard Mousasi, wherein Dallas gloats about his fight predicting skills, and Connor gets so caught up in Machida’s techincal mastery that he almost cries (but it’s just audio, so you can’t tell–right?)
Check back tomorrow for another bite-sized episode of Heavy Hands, featuring an interview with UFC flyweight contender and former Bellator bantamweight champion Zach Makovsky.
While you listen, please feel free to rate and review the show on iTunes and Stitcher.
