
This Saturday at UFC 170 Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey will face Sara McMann in an anticipated title match. It isn’t just a match up of elite fighters, but one of Olympic medalist grapplers. Ronda Rousey was the first American female to medal in Judo with bronze in 2008 and Sara McMann, who was a silver medalist in the first Summer Games to feature Women’s Wrestling in 2004.
In this addition the BJJ Scout takes a look at the takedown games of both Rousey and McMann, starting with how both fighters manage distance on the feet and moving on to their clinch tactics. It includes a detailed look at how Ronda forces upright postures, her use of the headlock, and her counters to shot takedowns.
