In her most recent appearance inside the Octagon, UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey dominated challenger Miesha Tate en route to a third round armbar to earn her second title defense. It’s no secret that she pulled double-time training for that fight while shooting for the upcoming feature film Fast and the Furious 7 and Expendables 3. It looks like Warner Bros. has been impressed with Rousey’s rising star and have booked her for lead roles in two upcoming movies.
Variety reported the news on Thursday:
The studio is in final negotiations to acquire rights to New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor’s “Athena Project” with Rousey attached to star, and it’s also tapped her for one of the female leads in the upcoming “Entourage” movie.
Sources say Rousey fell in love with (The Athena Project) and also quickly clicked with author Thor, attaching herself to the project before it even had a studio involved. After the studio approached her reps about doing the “Entourage” movie, the studio was also interested in other things she may want to work on given the great word of mouth from “The Expendables 3″ and “Fast and Furious 7″ shoots.
Before she starts setting herself up as a movie star, Rousey still has to defend her belt against Sarah McMann. The two are set to headline UFC 170 on February 22. The event will go down at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV.
