Invicta FC bantamweight Miriam Nakamoto is no stranger to career-threatening injuries. She successfully recovered from an ACL injury to her left knee. She knows full well the road that lies ahead of her as she recovers from the same ACL injury to her right knee, suffered in her bout with Lauren Murphy at Invicta FC 7 last December.
Even as her rehab progresses, it appears that Miriam is taking a hard look at her future. In a twitter conversation with Joe Rogan last month, Miriam revealed her concerns about being a 37-year-old fighter looking at a year-long recovery from knee surgery. In response to a question from Rogan about coming over to the UFC, Nakamoto responded:
@joerogan I passed bcuz i believed in a vision. It’s hard 2 keep the faith for my reasons when confronted w my age + injury. Tryn 2 stay tru

@joerogan I love who i’m w (Invicta) but it’s scary where I’m at (37 + 1 yr rehab= 38)

Given that this is her second ACL surgery, she seems well aware of the time factor necessary to make a recovery to elite level MMA competition. One has to wonder what is ahead for her in the Invicta organization should she return to fight. Her record with Invicta is 1 win, 1 loss and 1 no contest.
