During the last 3 years, Riki Fukuda has been plying his trade in the UFC. He alternated wins and losses during his stint, and if you count that highly disputed decision against Nick Ring, he should be 3-2 on the world stage with wins over Steve Cantwell and Tom DeBlass. He was surprisingly released after a loss to the streaking Brad Tavares, and this past weekend was Fukuda’s first bout since then.
The former DEEP champion impressed as he traveled to hostile territory and stopped Korean star Hee Seung Kim in his home country. The bout headlined Road FC’s new monthly league dubbed as ‘Road FC: Korea 1’, and it saw Fukuda take control on the ground and landed several hard shots as he stopped the home town favorite on the second round.

On the co-main event, A Sol Kwon went back to his winning ways as he took on Mostafa Abdollahi, a Hong Kong-based Iranian who had a bit of hype on his MMA debut because of his Muay Thai credentials and high level training partners such as Vuyisile Colossa and BJJ world champ Alberto Mina. Abdollahi had been shoring up his overall game at Epic MMA, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the veteran’s skills as Kwon was able to capitalize on a slight mistake to get on his back and secure an early rear naked choke finish.
Kwon missed weight for the costest, and with the unusual rules from Road FC, he was to be deducted by two points for each round, basically ensuring that he will lose a decision if it goes to the judges. Fortunately for him, he was able to stop his foe and avoid the whole scoring issue that fighters such as Kyung Ho Kang have dealt with in the past.
Also announced after the event, the promotion will have their next event on February 9, and it will be a continuation of their major numbered events. Only one bout so far has been announced so far, but on Road FC 14 the promotion will crown a new champion as they host the finals of their Featherweight Grand Prix between Bae Young Kwon and Mu Gyeom Choi.
