Last night was not only UFC Fight Night, it was also the debut of TUF Nations. The latest installment of The Ultimate Fighter features an international competition, as Team Canada, led by Patrick Cote, takes on Kyle Noke and Team Australia. This season did not feature the elimination round to get into the house, instead jumping right into the regular season and the first elimination fight. For those of you who may not be interested in the reality show aspect of The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC has you covered with full fight video of last night’s fight.
Representing Team Canada is Kajan Johnson (19-10-1). As Johnson’s record indicates, he is a veteran, who has been fighting professionally since 2002. Johnson trains at Tristar, which is always a good sign. Though his 19-10 record is not stellar, it’s worth noting that he started his career going 6-8. Since 2004, he’s only lost twice, and one of those was against Rory MacDonald. Working against Johnson may be his time away from the cage, as he did not have a fight in either 2012 or 2013.
Team Australia’s pick here is Brendan O’Reilly (5-0; 1 NC). O’Reilly is a 4 year pro who has fought somewhat sporadically. He is yet to face the same level of competition Johnson has seen.

Good fight to kick off the season, as O’Reilly shows nice takedowns, Johnson has some impressive submission attempts, and you get a cool finish too. Solid start to TUF Nations.
