Just a week ago, UFC 168 concluded with the unexpected and graphic leg break of former middleweight king Anderson Silva. In the second round of his rematch against current champion Chris Weidman, Silva threw a leg kick. Weidman countered with a check that caused Silva’s fibula and tibia to snap. Since then there’s been a lot of speculation of whether or not “The Spider” would ever return to the Octagon.

According to Silva’s manager Jorge Guimaraes, there’s no question about it. Guimaraes spoke to TMZ:

Trust me, he will be back.

He had his second X-ray [Thursday] and everything looks great. It was a clean break so the nerves are okay. He’s already started physical therapy and he’s moving his toes.

Prior to losing his belt to Weidman at UFC 162, Silva went on a record setting 16-fight win streak inside the Octagon with 10 title defenses included. Guimaraes did not give a timeline for Silva’s return, but it’s expected to take 6-9 months before he’s able to start training again.
