Rounding out the UFC 168 Facebook prelims, Welterweights Bobby Voelker and William Macario faced off inside the Octagon. Voelker took a beating over the three round bout, his face busted open and bleeding all over himself and Macario who took the unanimous decision.
Macario brought it on early, relying mostly on his right hand to back Voelker up. Voelker responded with a couple shots. More pressure from Macario and voelker was looking hurt early. A big overhand right from Macario hurt Voelker, but Bobby was able to endure. Takedown from Macario didn’t lead to much. Voelker tried to get something going at the end but couldn’t land any big shots on Macario.
Knowing he lost the first, Voelker came out much more active in the second. He still struggled to land the big blow, but did better disrupting Macario’s rhythm before getting taken down. Back on their feet, Voelker started finding more success with his strikes. Cut opened up on voelker’s hairling before taking a vicious flurry. Macario had him backed against the cage, dropped him with a punch, but Voelker refused to be finished. Referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the action for a doctor check on Voelker’s bloody face. The doc let the fight continue and Voelker came out swinging. His face and chest were covered in his own blood.
Voelker bleeding again before the round event starts. He pressured again early, but can’t find a home for his power punches. Macario less active early in the final round than the prior two. Action stopped for a poke to Voelker’s eye. Macario hit a solid flurry when the action restarted but mostly landed single shots while avoiding damage from Bobby to take the decision.
William Macario scores the unanimous decision (30-27 x 3) victory over Bobby Voelker
