UFC 168 results: Dennis Siver earns unanimous decision over Manny Gamburyan

Dennis Siver faced TUF 5 runner up Manny Gamburyan in a Featherweight bout on the UFC 168 FS1 prelims.

Surprisingly, it was Siver who hit the first takedown of the fight. He took Manny off guard as he came in swinging. Gamburyan went for an armbar but couldn’t finish it. Siver went to work from the outside once they returned to their feet. He mixed up low kicks and head shots before getting taken down by Gamburyan. Manny went for a leglock, but lost position and took some punishment for his effort. Siver climbed on the back as Manny returned to his feet.

Siver went right back to hitting the lead leg kick in round two. Manny came in throwing a big overhand right but got caught and dropped on the way in. He recovered quickly then scored a takedown. An elbow cut open Siver’s forehead. Manny looked to posture up and Siver used that opportunity to get back to his feet. Siver landed a nice combination before getting dumped on his back by Gamburyan.

They got right back to it in the final round, but an errant low kick from Siver stopped the action for a moment. Siver scored a takedown. Manny dedicated himself to a Kimura attempt but allowed Siver to advance and eventually take the back in the process. Siver mixed up ground and pound while hunting for the rear naked choke. He wasn’t able to lock it in and rode out the rest of the round in dominant position.

Dennis Siver takes the unanimous decision (29-28 x 3) over Manny Gamburyan
