In the first of two Heavyweight fights on UFC Fight Night 33, Pat Barry squared off against Soa Palelei.coming off a loss in his last fight, Barry was looking to get another one in the win column against Palelei who won in his UFC debut. It was Soa who brought the fight into his domain and scored a quick TKO victory.
Palelei made it known quickly exactly what he wanted to do. He charged in immediately for a takedown, but Barry was able to shake it off. Barry tried to work on the feet, but Soa dove in for a takedown after a missed knee. It didn’t take long for Palelei to move to mount and he unleashed violence when he got there. “The Hulk” trapped Barry’s left arm in the dominant position before flurrying punches to Barry’s head that left the strike on the verge of unconsciousness before the fight was called. When Barry went to stand after the stoppage, he fell back onto the mat.
