TUF 17 vet Clint Hester met Dylan Andrews at UFC Fight Night 33. The fight started slow with Andrews securing top position in the first without a lot of offense. Hester reversed to the same end and gave up the first round. Round 2 was all Hester, though. He punished his opponent from top position for the majority of the fight. But, it was an in jury, not Hester’s punches, forced the stoppage. Andrews dislocated his shoulder winging a wild right hook and couldn’t answer the bell for the final round.
Hester got off early with a big right hand that shook Andrews. Andrews backed off to slow the pace and avoided Hester’s power shots before scoring a takedown. The Aussie tried to work from half guard but wasn’t able to make much happen before getting reversed after a couple minutes. Hester took top position and, like his opponent wasn’t able to do anything with it before allowing an escape. In the closing seconds of the round, Andrews tripped up Hester to score another takedown.
After giving up two in the first round, Hester was far more conscious of the takedown threat in round two. He worked well from the edge of range before scoring a takedown of his own and gaining half guard. He postured up and let loos some damaging ground and pound. After taking a lot of punishment on the bottom, Andrews scrambled up, but took even more damage in the process. The action slowed down on the feet as both fighters failed to and many significant blows.
A dislocated shoulder kept Andrews from answering the bell for the final round.
Clint Hester TKOs (retirement) Dylan Andrew at 5:00 of round 2.
