After losing its original headlining bout a few weeks ago, UFC on Fox 9 has once again been hit with injury. Former Flyweight contender John Dodson has reportedly suffered a knee injury in training. He was slated to welcome Scott Jorgensen to the 125 lb. division on December 14, but the wounded knee has left the bout in question.

Former UFC flyweight No. 1 contender John Dodson has suffered a serious knee injury and is likely out of his UFC on Fox 9 bout with Scott Jorgensen.
Sherdog.com learned of the injury on Tuesday evening from a source close to the fighter. Dodson hurt his knee during training at Jackson’s MMA in Albuquerque, N.M., on Tuesday morning and was taken to the hospital almost immediately, according to the source.
The UFC has since confirmed the injury and Dodson’s removal from the event, promising a new opponent for Jorgensen to be announced ASAP. Dodson came in as a replacement for Ian McCall, who was also forced from the event due to injury. The UFC will have to scramble quickly if they want to keep Jorgensen on the card.
UFC on Fox 9 is set for December 14 out of the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, CA. The card features many highly anticipated fights from the lighter weight classes and will be headlined by the Flyweight championship fight between Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez
