After a trio of disappointing performances, Light Heavyweight Rashad Evans got back on track last Saturday night. He faced former dual-division contender Chael Sonnen in the co-main event of UFC 167. It took him only four minutes of pure dominance to force Sonnen to tap to strikes and secure the TKO victory.

On Tuesday’s UFC Tonight, Sonnen had high praise for Rashad following the defeat:

Having got past Sonnen and now on a two-fight win streak, Evans discussed his next fight:

A former Olympian, Daniel Cormier has so far gone undefeated in 13 fights at Heavyweight. Following his most recent win against Roy Nelson, he confirmed the move to 205 lbs. he’s teased for so long. Cormier originally hoped for an immediate title shot, but with Jon Jones currently slated to face Glover Teixeira in the Spring of 2014, he’ll need a divisional debut first.

Evans makes a lot of sense for Cormier right now. He’s one of the biggest stars in the division and a win over him would make a solid argument for title contention. However, the match could backfire if Rashad manages to pick up the victory. Cormier would be removed from consideration and an Evans vs. Jones rematch isn’t high on anyone’s list.

Should Evans introduce Cormier to the Light Heavyweight division? Let us know in the comments.
