UFC Fight Night 32 results: Cezar Ferreira takes split decision over Daniel Sarafian

In what should have been the tournament final for TUF: Brazil 1, Middleweight Cezar Ferreira faced Daniel Sarafian in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 32. After 15 minutes, Ferreira proved retained his Ultimate Fighter crown with an split decision victory. It was far from the most exciting fight of the night with Ferreira mostly using his wrestling and top control to take the decision, but Sarafian was unable to deny or counter him.

Sarafian wrapped up Ferreira in the clinch early to the jeers of the Brazilian crowd. The action stalled out and referee Mario Yamasaki seperated the fights. Ferreira went for a takedown of his own and backed Sarafian into the fence. They separate and the fighters go back and forth with wild hooks. Sarafian dropped for a second but got right back.

Ferreira got a takedown right of the bat in the second round. Sarafian was able to regain guard then grab a guillotine, but he was so far out of position Joe Rogan wouldn’t have even called it “deep”. Saragian got back to his feet and staggered Ferreira with a couple punches but couldn’t capitalize before giving up another takedown. Ferreira was trying to work an arm-triangle from half-guard before Yamasaki stood them up.

Sarafian came out with a stiff straight right and followed up with a back-clinch, but couldn’t do much with it. Ferreira hit another takedown and immediately attained half-guard. He didn’t do a lot there, but it took a couple minutes before Yamasaki stood them up. The standup was equally as effective as Ferreira’s top position as he went for another takedown immediately. This time he moved into back control. Sarafian stood up with hsi opponent on his back. Ferreira couldn’t finish the submission before the final bell sounded.
