Glory has announced the full Spike TV card for Glory 13 Tokyo. Hailing from the famed Ariake Colosseum, Glory 13 takes place on December 21 and will once again be broadcast on Spike TV.
Headlining the show will be a potentially very exciting Heavyweight clash as Daniel Ghita takes on Errol Zimmerman. Both men were last seen at Glory 11 Chicago where Ghita made the Heavyweight finals before losing to Rico Verhoeven, and Zimmerman scored a very good win over Hesdy Gerges. The two men have met once before, with Ghita taking home a KO win back in 2010. Since then, Ghita has firmly established himself as a top 5 Heavyweight in the world. Zimmerman has had his ups and downs, but has consistently remained a danger to anyone at Heavyweight. This should be an action packed fight.
The other main feature is the now traditional Glory 4 man tournament. This time, Welterweights take center stage. The tournament favorite has to be Nieky Holzken, the Dutch veteran with a wealth of big fight experience. He takes on Marc de Bonte in the opening round. Looking to upset Holzken is the young fighter Joseph Valtellini. “Bazooka Joe” has been on an incredible run in Glory, going 3-0 with 3 KO’s and riding high off a nice win at Glory 11 on Spike. He’s consistently taking steps up in competition, and a win here would be a huge step for him, but he absolutely has the skills to play spoiler. He faces Karapet Karapetyan in the other semi-final.
Just in case that’s not enough, the Superfight series at Glory 13 also includes Glory 11’s Rocky story, Rico Verhoeven, vs. the kickboxing legend Peter Aerts, plus Remy Bonjasky vs. Anderson Silva (as always must be said, that’s Anderson “Braddock” Silva – though wouldn’t Bonjasky vs. The Spider under Glory rules be great?).
It’s a great night of action and you can watch it all on Spike TV. And of course, Bloody Elbow will have plenty of Glory 13 coverage coming your way.
