Seemingly all hope of an Anderson Silva vs. Jon Jones superfight went out the window when Chris Weidman knocked Silva out at UFC 162. While the actual fight may never happen, there’s still plenty of chatter about what would happen if the UFC’s all time greatest were to take on the current best in the world.

Silva’s manager, Ed Soares, still (unsurprisingly) favors Silva in the hypothetical fight. As he told Fox LA (transcription via MMA Fighting):

“I think he’ll beat him. I do think Anderson can beat Jon Jones. Not taking anything away from Jon Jones. Incredible athlete, but he doesn’t have the experience and I think a well-trained Anderson Silva would beat Jon Jones.”

At 38 years old, Silva is due to fade considerably any time now, if the Weidman fight wasn’t already the start. So there’s not much of a shelf life left on the superfight. Even if Silva regains the 185 pound crown.
