Former Heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos is primed for one of the biggest fights of his career. On Saturday, October 19, he’ll face current heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez for the third time. In their first fight at UFC on Fox 1, Dos Santos put Velasquez down with a first round KO after only 69 seconds. However, when they met again at UFC 155, Velasquez dominated JDS en route to a unanimous decision victory.

As we reported earlier, Dos Santos remains incredibly confident heading into the rubber match, but he did suffer some injury while training for the fight (via MMA Fighting).

According to dos Santos, he suffered a cut three weeks ago which required stitches.

“It was in the training (camp), and it was accidental,” dos Santos admitted. “But not too [bad]. I’m okay already.”

Luckily for Dos Santos, the cut occurred far enough away from the event that he wasn’t disqualified from competition like Alexander Gustafsson before UFC on Fuel TV 9. Even though JDS got cleared by the Texas commission, the cut may still pose some problems. Fresh scar tissue is very sensitive and may be easily turned into a fresh and dangerous cut by Cain on Saturday night at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX.
