Roger Bowling is no stranger to rematches, and after a trilogy with Bobby Voelker in Strikeforce, the lightweight will rematch Abel Trujillo at UFC on Fox 9 in Sacramento. The UFC revealed the latest addition to the December 14th event via Twitter yesterday evening:

The two men fought at UFC Fight Night: Condit vs. Kampmann in Indianapolis in August, with the bout ending in a 2nd round “no contest” after Trujillo was deemed to have illegally kneed Bowling in the head while he was down. Despite the nature of the stoppage, Dana White believed both knees were legal and still awarded Trujillo a win bonus.

Bowling (11-4, 1 NC) pretty much has to win or else he’ll be cut from the UFC. He ended his Strikeforce tenure with a decision loss to Tarec Saffiedine, and then lost his lightweight debut by KO to Anthony Njokuani at UFC on Fox 7 in San Jose.

Trujillo (10-5, 1 NC) easily defeated Marcus LeVesseur in his UFC debut back in December 2012, but his 2nd fight against current contender Khabib Nurmagomedov saw him repeatedly taken down throughout the fight and manhandled from start to finish.

UFC on Fox 9 is headlined by a lightweight title defense between champion Anthony Pettis and former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson.
