Saturday October 5, Bloody Elbow presents live fight coverage of Miguel Cotto vs. Delvin Rodriguez. HBO World Championship Boxing Cotto vs. Rodriguez airs live this Saturday, October 5 with a fight time of 9:45 p.m. ET / PT. Bloody Elbow will have live fight coverage, including results and discussion, right here.

Miguel Cotto has long been one of boxing’s most popular fighters. The 32 year old Puerto Rican fighter has been in some truly legendary battles against the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Antonio Margarito, Floyd Mayweather, Shane Mosley, and so many more. But he’s also at a key moment in his career. Cotto is coming off a loss to Austin Trout. It’s the first time Cotto has ever lost in Madison Square Garden, the first time he’s ever lost two in a row, and the first time he’s ever lost to someone other than a top pound for pound fighter (or a fighter who likely had his gloves loaded). In short, the Trout loss was a surprise for Cotto fans, and one that sets him at a crossroads. He needs a win badly to get his career back on track.

And he should get it. Rodriguez is a good opponent, but definitely a notch below Cotto. He’s set up here as a rebound fight. Still, it’s hard not to think back on the epic beatings Cotto has taken, particularly against Pacquiao and Margarito, and wonder about his chances. He’s extraordinarily battle-worn. If the Trout fight was a sign that he has taken all the beatings he can take, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all – but it would definitely be a sad moment for many boxing fans.

Opening the card is a battle between two undefeated fighters as Terence Crawford takes on Andrey Klimov. Crawford is on the rise right now and is coming off a very impressive win over Alejandro Sanabria in June. He’s a fighter with a lot of potential, and it seems like 2013 will be the year he realizes that potential. Russia’s Klimov takes a step up in competition here as he hopes to spoil Crawford’s rise.

Also featured on HBO Saturday is Wladimir Klitschko vs. Alexander Povetkin. Klitschko vs. Povetkin airs live at 3:30 p.m. ET, and we’ll have separate fight coverage for that event.
